We read a story about making a kite and how to fly one.  Will got to make and design his own kite.  What a great job!  He did a awesome job reading the story, building the kite, and what a nice day for kite flying!

Thank you Gage for inviting me to the motocross races.  I'm so glad I got to see you race.  You have taught me so much about motocross and it has given me a better understanding about the book we are currently reading.  Also, thank you Mr. and Mrs. Davis for the hospitality you had for my husband and me.  You made us feel very welcomed.

I hope that everyone had a great summer!  

I wanted to update my bio information.  This is my tenth year here at St. Peters.  My 29th year in education.  I live in Russellville.  My "kids" are now 25 (Clayton), 23 (Curtis), 21 (Jake), and 19 (Samantha).  Clayton works for JC Parks and Rec.  Curtis works for Lauf Equipment.  Jake is a junior at CMU.  Samantha is a sophomore at UCM.  My husband and I are once more experiencing the "empty nest syndrome".  I like to do anything outdoors.  Hiking, gardening, biking, water sports, or just basking in the sunshine!  I love teaching and consider all my students as one of my own.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you want to discuss anything.  I hope to send out weekly emails updating parents on student progress, concerns, or announcements.

We celebrated with our 8th graders going on a trip to YO-YUMS.  Each student got to make a t-shirt.  Then everyone had a treat.  Some of the students did karaoke singing their favorite songs. Some of them pretended they were backup dancers.  I think that everyone had a great time!

What a different, but great year it has been.  Wishing everyone a safe and happy summer!  Looking forward to seeing each and everyone in August!

Mr. Veit came for a visit and flipped eggs with the students.  Each egg had a vocabulary word on it.  The students had to flip the egg to reveal the word, say it, and then feed it to a monster(box).  I think that Mr. Veit had even more fun than the students.

Many students in Mrs. Keller's class require additional help with motor skills.  Often academic skills can be worked on while using various motor skills.  Above, the students are flipping eggs using a spatula.  These eggs contain vocabulary words.  The words are read and are fed to the monster machine.

What a crazy thing.  Having to shut down school for the Covid-19 virus.  I truly missed sharing the final weeks with my students.  Thank you to everyone-students, staff, parents and administrators for the great efforts you put forth to continue with the education of our students.

Next year we will make even more yummy foods and snacks for teachers and classmates!

 There will be more gorgeous flowers in the St. Peter's Garden!

Hopefully we will be able to talk about our favorite baseball team!

     I have been looking through some free sites and ways to help you work with your students at home.  Below are a few of them and what they do.

• http://discoveryk12.com/dk12/ - This is a homeschooled site.  Explore it and you may want to pass it on to your students.
• Nimbus capture   -ScreenCastify - Both of these apps allow you to make videos that you can share with your students.  Both will work with Google Chrome.  This would allow you students to watch you teach a subject.  I know that several of the middle school teachers use Screen Castify if you would need help.
• https://www.storylineonline.net/ - books read online, videos, etc.
• https://ttrockstars.com/home - multiplication tables.  Has an app for phone. You need to explore and possibly create student logins.
• https://quizlet.com/features/quizlet-teacher-guide-getting-started - Quizlet has always been available. This would be a way for you to create tests for your students.  You would have to make classes I'm sure and give them logins.  Grades 5-8 should be able to use this.
• https://www.squigglepark.com/dreamscape/ - reading games for grades 208
• Google forms would also be a way to give quizzes and tests.  Don't forget it is there.

Dear Parents:

Because of the closing of school, I have sent home work to be completed each school day.  Many of the students have brought home a book to read and answer questions as they read.  They should read at least 15 minutes a day.  Please make sure that they do this, they will be graded on their work and their progress.

I also sent information about a website that they can go on called "epic".  I have them set up in a classroom.  They can access the sight, put in the classroom pass word and follow the instructions.  They can choose books to read, listen to audio books, and other various activities.
