We had a great time interacting with students from grades K-2 at our annual Halloween party down in VLC.  Students got to help the teachers with the games.

 After the Halloween party, students and teachers got to take part in the Great Pumpkin Toss!  We threw the pumpkins down the hill by the creek.  We talked about supporting wildlife with food, and maybe the possibility of growing pumpkins next year along the creek.

Mrs. Keller brought in cake for the students to enjoy.

Upon completing the story "Carousel" and taking and passing the quiz over the story, Will received an encouraging letter from Mr. Keller, along with a shark tooth that he found in a clay pit in Mississippi!

I am so blessed.  My students are always looking out for me.

This week is testing week.

The students all did a great job staying on task for extended periods of time.  A group of us enjoyed a trip down to Adrian's Island.  The hammocks were very popular!

WELCOME TO THE 2023 - 2024 SCHOOL YEAR!

I can't wait to see everyone again!  It's going to be a fantastic year!

I wanted to give an update on my family.

My husband, Dave and I, have been married for 31 years. 

Dave is a geologist and oversees the mining of clay in Missouri as well as abroad in Sweden and Turkey.

My oldest son, Clay, was married last November.  He and Hope are expecting their first child in January.  Clay works for a local tree service company, and Hope is a nurse at St. Marys Hospital.

My son Curt is 25 and works for Luaf Equipment.  He enjoys hunting, working out, playing volleyball and playing the saxophone.

My son Jake graduated with a bachelor's in music education this spring.  He will be attending UCM this fall to begin work on his master's in music performance.  He plays the guitar and trombone.

My daughter Sam attends UCM and will be doing her student teaching next spring.  She is getting a degree in early childhood education.  She enjoys reading and doing outdoor activities.

This will be my 13th year at St. Peters.  I love to be outdoors gardening or hiking, etc.  

My husband and I took a trip to Alaska this summer.  We had a great time.  We found out that we aren't as young and in shape as we used to be as we hiked up a mountain, but we made it and the view was incredible.  We toured an old copper mine, walked on a glacier, and saw lots of ocean wildlife on our boat tour.  (Sea otters are so cute!)

We also went to the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas and actually found a diamond.  It was fun digging in the dirt and sifting the soil through screens.

Can't wait to hear about everyone's summer!

After reading "Maniac Magee" we celebrated by watching the movie, ordering t-shirts and showing off all of our shoes that we wrote chapter summaries on.

Some of the 5th-grade students are reading "Maniac Magee".  Some of the characters in the book were eating Krimpets.  We were interested in finding out what Krimpets were.  They were delicious.  The students brought some to the staff and other students and explained why we were giving them out.  They did a great job!

 

A fun way to study vocabulary words.  Put the words on paper fish. Use a yardstick with tape on one end to catch the fish that are laying on the floor.  We have fishing contests.  If they know the word on the fish, they get to keep it.  If they don't know the word, I get to keep it.  The person with the most fish wins.
