It is a tradition that once the Halloween week is over, the students who have done well in following rules and completing their work, get to throw the jack-o-lanterns down the hill.

Take a picture of your student reading a book and send it to me in an email and I will publish it on future blogs.

 For those of you reading Maniac Magee in class, here are the links to finding it being read aloud.  This is a good way to increase student comprehension for those who struggle to read.

For any books read in class, there are several sights that you can go to have the book read aloud.  Just Google!  Ask me for assistance if you need to.

• WELCOME BACK 

The first week we will be getting to know each other by discussion and by designing and coloring "Hoodies" that describe ourselves and our unique personalities.   We will also discuss some things that students might have read over the summer or some books that they came across that they may like to read in class. This year I have on the board an area that says, "Something that I want to know more about".  Any time a student hears about something or reads about something, and wants to know more about it, I will find some literature on it to read in class.  We will have the SRI program this year, so encourage your kids to read and take quizzes.  

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or voice any concerns that you have.  We are a team.

Make sure that you continue to encourage your child to finish the year strong.  Make sure that their homework is complete, and that they participate in class.      WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Learning words with the silent "e" at the end.  Using the "magic hat" we can turn tap into tape, etc.   When the lesson is finished, the student may have fun wearing the hat.

Our trip to the Westphalia Trading Post was a lot of fun for all of our students.  It was such a beautiful day, and our hosts were amazing.
